The Godhead

We believe that there is one God who has Being in three coequal and coeternal persons revealed to us in Scripture as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three persons make up the Godhead which the Church has historically referred to as the Trinity.

Deuteronomy 6:4, Acts 5:3-4, John 20:26-28, John 14:9-11, Matthew 28:18-20

We believe that God is the Creator of all things and that nothing exists other than what was created by God, specifically through second person of the Godhead, the Son.

Colossians 1:16, John 1:3

We believe that Jesus is the second person of the Trinity. He is equal to the Father and the Holy Spirit, but has chosen in eternity past to show His love for the Father by fulfilling the Father’s will. In doing so He set aside His rightful position as God and became human. Although Jesus was fully human He was also fully deity at the same time.

Matthew 3:13-17, Isaiah 9:6, John 6:38, Philippians 2:5-8

We believe that Jesus was born of a virgin in order to be our kinsman redeemer as was required of God’s Law in the Old Testament. It is because of this requirement set forth by God that animal sacrifice would never be able to take away the sin of humanity.

Luke 1-2, Matthew 1:23, Isiah 7:14, Hebrews 9, Galatians 3:13-14

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead and equal to both the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit has chosen in eternity past to glorify the Son and the Father. The Holy Spirit now indwells all believers sanctifying them and enabling them to be conformed to the person of Jesus Christ.

Acts 5: 3-4, Matthew 28:18-20, John 14:16-18

Man

We believe that man was created in God’s image, distinct from other creatures. Man fell into sin and the relationship between God and humanity was severed. This sin nature we inherited from Adam, and now all humanity is born spiritually dead and unable to redeem themselves. Apart from Christ humans are slaves to sin.

Genesis 1:27, Romans 5:17-18, Ephesians 2:1-3, Romans 6:16-17

Salvation

We believe the Bible teaches that we are saved by grace through faith. Salvation does not come as the result of something we have done, but rather because of what Jesus has done. It is a free gift that cannot be earned or deserved.

Ephesians 2:8-9 Galatians 2:16, Romans 3:21-28

Baptism

We believe the Bible teaches that baptism is the immersion in water of a repentant believer. In this Jesus is our example when He submitted to baptism performed by John the Baptist. In the New Testament church, every believer was commanded to be baptized; as it symbolizes joining with Jesus in his death, burial, and resurrection.

Acts 2:38, Romans 6:3-4, Colossians 2:12-14, Matthew 3:13-17

Scripture

We believe that all Scripture, both the Old and New Testament, are inspired by God. And in the original autographs are infallible and without error. We also believe that God has preserved His Word through the manuscript tradition throughout history so that we can be confident that all biblical doctrines are completely intact in our modern translations. However, we do not include paraphrases as translations of Scripture.

We believe in the sufficiently of Scripture, meaning that God has provided everything we need for His work on earth in the Scriptures. Scripture is our highest authority, meaning that Scripture is to be used to interpret Scripture. This also means that modern views of social issues and other perspectives should not be used in any way to interpret Scripture, but rather a proper exegesis of the Bible should be used to understand all social perspectives.
